Quilts for Boys
Quilts for boys either lean one of two ways. They are either very camoflague, buffalo plaid and man-cave like or they are way to juvenille for bigger kids. As a mother of two boys and a lady who has nearly all men in my life (I’m talking about the 5 brother in laws, two brothers, and a whole lotta nephews). I’m always on the look for a manly looking quilt.
Some of my favorites are geometric, modern, and even mid century styles which would look amazing an a whole slew of boy and gender neutral colors.
I love how simple it is and adore the large quilt stitching. The idea of single color with the contrast stitching is very appealing.
In Libs Elliot’s quilts there is a high tech background code that generates the shapes before she begins. This is a really interesting process to me and would make any techie guy gush knowing the science behind the story.
So if you are looking for a masculine quilt look towards a simple color scheme and layout. This kind of quilt is going to have the biggest impact and they won’t grow out of it as they get older. After all the time and effort put into a quilt you want to be loved a lifetime.
